November Book Haul | 2020

I know that the title says that it’s my November book haul, but really, this post contains books that I’ve bought or received over the past few months. I think that the last book haul I did was May and since then, there have been months where I didn’t buy any books, and months where I just couldn’t be bothered to take pictures and write blog posts. Mental health is a constant struggle.

So, here we are, a few months later, wrapping all of it up in one post!

Title: White Fragility

Author: Robin Diangelo

(Bought myself)

Referring to the defensive moves that white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviours including argumentation and silence.

These behaviours, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent any meaningful cross-racial dialogue. In this in-depth exploration, anti-racist educator Robin DiAngelo examines how white fragility develops, how it protects racial inequality, and what can be done to engage more constructively.

But when the Eastwood sisters–James Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna–join the suffragists of New Salem, they begin to pursue the forgotten words and ways that might turn the women’s movement into the witch’s movement. Stalked by shadows and sickness, hunted by forces who will not suffer a witch to vote-and perhaps not even to live-the sisters will need to delve into the oldest magics, draw new alliances, and heal the bond between them if they want to survive.
