Illumicrate Unboxing | June 2020

Illumicrate Unboxing | June 2020

Who doesn’t love a good book subscription box, eh? You get loads of bookish goodies, and when it arrives every month, it feels like your birthday/Christmas and it’s amazing. It’s like a present from you to you.

Anyway, let’s get into the unboxing!

The theme for this month was ‘In the Shadows’.

As usual with sub boxes, there is a spoiler card inside that tells you the theme for the month and also what you can find inside the box, but I never read this until I have seen every single item, as I don’t want to spoiled!

The first thing that I saw in the box was this beautiful mug that was designed by Rosie Thorns and was inspired by the Villains series by V.E. Schwab.

I do love some good kitchen utensils. I can never get enough of them. This tea towel is inspired by A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin, and was designed by Fiona Gacki.

This beautiful art print was designed Elithien and is inspired by Bryce and Hunt from Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas… A book that I STILL haven’t gotten around to.

You can never have enough bookmarks! I have so many that I’ve lost count. And even though I don’t need that many, I keep THEM ALL… you know… just in case. This metal bookmark was designed by Her Paper World and was inspired by Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin.

This was something that I definitely would have needed if I was still going to YALC in London. It gets so warm in there, so a fan is a must-have. Maybe I’ll take it with me next year. This fan was inspired by Nevernight by Jay Kristoff, and was designed by Ashley Diers.

As usual, Illumicrate included an enamel pin inspired by their book of the month and created by Fable and Black.

AAAANNNNNNNNDDDDD… the book of the month is The Court of Miracles by Kester Grant. This gorgeous edition has an exclusive cover, a hidden cover, sprayed edges, and signed endpapers!

In the violent urban jungle of an alternate 1828 Paris, the French Revolution has failed and the city is divided between merciless royalty and nine underworld criminal guilds, known as the Court of Miracles. Eponine (Nina) Thénardier is a talented cat burglar and member of the Thieves Guild. Nina’s life is midnight robberies, avoiding her father’s fists, and watching over her naïve adopted sister, Cosette (Ettie).

When Ettie attracts the eye of the Tiger–the ruthless lord of the Guild of Flesh–Nina is caught in a desperate race to keep the younger girl safe. Her vow takes her from the city’s dark underbelly to the glittering court of Louis XVII. And it also forces Nina to make a terrible choice–protect Ettie and set off a brutal war between the guilds, or forever lose her sister to the Tiger.
