Illumicrate Unboxing | March 2021

Illumicrate Unboxing | March 2021

Who doesn’t love a good book subscription box, eh? You get loads of bookish goodies, and when it arrives every month, it feels like your birthday/Christmas and it’s amazing. It’s like a present from you to you.

Anyway, let’s get into the unboxing!

The theme for this month’s Illumicrate was ‘Fighting Spirit’.

As usual with sub boxes, there is a spoiler card inside that tells you the theme for the month and also what you can find inside the box, but I never read this until I have seen every single item, as I don’t want to spoiled!

I have a tote bag full of tote bags… BUT THAT’S OK! You can never have too many, especially when it comes to this amazingly designed one by AfterBlossom_Art! It’s inspired by Winternight and is the perfect size.

I can never get enough of bookish jewellery. It’s one of my favourite things whenever book boxes include them. I AM IN LOVE with this necklace. It’s inspired by Tea’s heartglass in The Bone Witch.

The next item that I saw in this months box was this pin hoop. I have another one somewhere and I need to figure out how to use them because they baffle me, but they’re such a good idea. And if you don’t have any pins, the design of the pin hoop is beautiful enough to just hang on it’s own. It was designed by Forensics and Flowers and is inspired by The Court of Miracles.

Two things about this product: 1) I love this bookmark so much and 2) it’s inspired by Kingdom of the Wicked which was one of my favourite books of 2020, and I am super excited for the sequel!

Next up, we have a mug inspired by The Dark Artifices series and is designed by Rosie Thorns, who is such an amazing artist.

Aaannnnddddd… the book of the month is The Unbroken by C.L. Clark. I actually haven’t heard anything about this book through the blogosphere or social media, and that intrigues me! It sounds brilliant, and something that I’m going to enjoy immensely. The Illuimicrate edition has exclusive embossing on the hardcover, sprayed edges, is signed by the author, and is also an exclusive hardcover.

Touraine is a soldier. Stolen as a child and raised to kill and die for the empire, her only loyalty is to her fellow conscripts. But now, her company has been sent back to her homeland to stop a rebellion, and the ties of blood may be stronger than she thought.

Luca needs a turncoat. Someone desperate enough to tiptoe the bayonet’s edge between treason and orders. Someone who can sway the rebels toward peace, while Luca focuses on what really matters: getting her uncle off her throne.

Through assassinations and massacres, in bedrooms and war rooms, Touraine and Luca will haggle over the price of a nation. But some things aren’t for sale.

The April theme is ‘Dearly Departed’, and it looks A-MAZ-ING. This edition will have exclusive stencilled edges, character art endpapers, and will come with a signed bookplate.
