Illumicrate Unboxing | March 2020

Illumicrate Unboxing | March 2020

Who doesn’t love a good book subscription box, eh? You get loads of bookish goodies, and when it arrives every month, it feels like your birthday/Christmas and it’s amazing. It’s like a present from you to you.

Illumicrate is a UK book subscription service that sends you a brand new release along with 5/6 book-inspired items.

Anyway, let’s get into the unboxing!

The theme for this month was ‘Worlds Collide’.untitled-design-1-2.png

As usual with sub boxes, there is a spoiler card inside that tells you the theme for the month and also what you can find inside the box, but I never read this until I have seen every single item, as I don’t want to spoilt!

I LOVE CANDLES SO MUCH! It’s only been recently where I’ve started to burn the ones that I’ve received in subscription boxes, and I’ve worked my way through them pretty quickly, so I’m glad to have more stock coming my way!

This candle was designed by Amelia’s Kitchen and is inspired by Strange the Dreamer.

RRP: £8.50

The next item that I saw in the box was this mug by Rosie Thorns and it is inspired by Throne of Glass. I think I have waaaaayy too many mugs now… It’s crazy. It’s a beautifully designed mug, but I think the printing quality onto the mug could have been better. It seems blurry (?). It’s definitely not as high quality printing as it could have been.

This keyring is so adorable. It’s obviously inspired by Alice in Wonderland and was designed by Alice (@itsbabypears).

I love receiving artwork. I think it’s so important to celebrate all of the amazing artists that are out there! This art print features Nahri and Dara from City of Brass and was designed Slaymate.

I seem to only have received one of the collectible coins rather than two of them… Hmmmm… I’ve already messaged Illumicrate so hopefully they get back to me. I know that the box is missing one of the actual items, which is going to be shipped with the April box.

Anyway, Illumicrate does this thing where they do collectible coins which I think is pretty cool. I am completely unsure of who this is supposed to be though. I don’t know whether it’s supposed to be Aelin from Throne of Glass, but then other people are saying that it’s Jude from The Cruel Prince… I’m confused.

And HERE IT IS! The book of the month was Havenfall by Sara Holland. This edition is an exclusive hardback (the U.K. is only releasing it in paperback), sprayed edges, ribbon bookmark, a signed bookplate and a letter from the author.

A safe haven between four realms. The girl sworn to protect it — at any cost.

Hidden deep in the mountains of Colorado lies the Inn at Havenfall, a sanctuary that connects ancient worlds — each with their own magic — together. For generations, the inn has protected all who seek refuge within its walls, and any who disrupt the peace can never return.

For Maddie Morrow, summers at the inn are more than a chance to experience this magic first-hand. Havenfall is an escape from reality, where her mother sits on death row accused of murdering Maddie’s brother. It’s where Maddie fell in love with handsome Fiorden soldier Brekken. And it’s where one day she hopes to inherit the role of Innkeeper from her beloved uncle.

But this summer, the impossible happens–a dead body is found, shattering everything the inn stands for. With Brekken missing, her uncle gravely injured, and a dangerous creature on the loose, Maddie suddenly finds herself responsible for the safety of everyone in Havenfall. She’ll do anything to uncover the truth, even if it means working together with an alluring new staffer Taya, who seems to know more than she’s letting on. As dark secrets are revealed about the inn itself, one thing becomes clear to Maddie–no one can be trusted, and no one is safe

Illumicrate have shared that next months book is actually a May release, so we’re getting it a whole month early! It will be signed by the author, spray-painted edges, and will also have exclusive embossing underneath the dust jacker.

Believe me guys, you do not want to miss out!
