U.K vs U.S Covers (Part 3)

U.K vs U.S Covers (Part 3)

Welcome to the blog post that I have been meaning to do FOR A VERY LONG TIME! I’ve actually done a BookTube version of this post, so you can check that out on my channel if you want. And if you haven’t read part one or part two of this blog series, then definitely check that out before you read this one!

Without any further ado, let’s get on with the judging!

I do love both of these covers, but I think I’m going to have to go with the U.K cover. I like the boat on the cover, and the crashing waves. But then I really do like the font of the U.S cover, but I’m going to stick with my answer and go with the U.K one.

THE U.S COVER BY FAR! What is going on with the U.K one? It’s so plain and simple. It’s actually one of the things that I’ve noticed when judging covers from the U.S and U.K. The U.K covers tend to be more simple which is a shame…

I don’t know about this one to be honest… I love the U.K one because of the bright yellow and the way the sun is drawn, but then I love all of the different colours of the U.S one… But I think I’m going to go with the U.K one. I like the font better and in this case, the simplicity is actually better.

I do love a cover that has such gorgeous designs on them and brilliant illustrations. Which is why I’m going with the U.S one. It gives off more of a sci-fi vibe which is brilliant, and I know that the U.K one represents the superhero element of the story more, but there’s something about the U.S cover that really draws in my attention.

God, this one is so hard… But I’m going to go with the U.K one. It’s just a shame that they stopped these types of designs. It would have been nice to see A Reaper at the Gates in this type of cover of design, but NO! The publishers just HAD to go and change the covers didn’t they? But I’m definitely going with the U.K one. I think it represents the type of story that it is really well.

This is another really hard one to judge. But again, I’m going to go with the U.K one. I love the purple and the font that’s used, whereas the font on the U.S cover seems a bit bland.

The U.S ones by far. I do really like the U.K ones but there’s something about the U.S ones that are just BETTER.

I’m going to go with the U.K one for this. I just love the colours of it and the shadows that were used…

So the scores after part three are:

U.K – 15

U.S – 13

So there we have it! That’s part three of my U.K vs U.S book covers blog posts. There IS going to be a part four and five, and I’m hoping it will be a post that will continue to carry on as new books come out. There’s going to be different posts because I just didn’t want to put them all in one VEEERRRYYYY LOOOOOONNNNGGG post because that would be a nightmare to write (and read).

Definitely keep your eyes peeled for the next parts of the series!

Which covers did you prefer? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. The picture of shadow and bone US cover does not do it justice at all. It’s gorgeous in person, cut out and foil. But if I didn’t know that I would definitely have gone with the UK version
