U.K vs U.S Covers (Part 2)

U.K vs U.S Covers (Part 2)

Welcome to the blog post that I have been meaning to do FOR A VERY LONG TIME! I’ve actually done a BookTube version of this post, so you can check that out on my channel if you want. And if you haven’t read part one of this blog post, then definitely check that out before you read this one!

Without any further ado, let’s get on with the judging!

This is just easy! The U.K definitely wins this one. Don’t get me wrong, the U.S one is okay, but the yellow and blue is way to jarring, which is why the U.K one is better. The blue is gorgeous and I love the moth design…

This one is so difficult! I own all of the U.K ones and I do love the white theme throughout the whole series. But there’s something about the U.S version of the series and the cover being full of colour that really captures my attention and tempts me to buy them… I think I’m actually going to go with the U.K one… That’s just my gut feeling though… I don’t know why, I’m just going with my gut.

Look, I like the U.S edition but I’m slightly biased when it comes to the Harry Potter series because well… It’s HARRY POTTER! So I’m going with the U.K edition because that’s the one that I grew up with.

I’m 100% going with the U.S version for this one. I just think that the model on the front cover portrays the character much better than the one in the U.K cover, and even thought I like the typography of the U.K one better, I just think that the overall cover of the U.S is is much better!

DO YOU REALISE HOW HARD THIS IS FOR ME! If you look closely at the U.K covers, you can see all of the detail that has gone into making it look like it does, but then the U.S cover is just so artistic. I love the art, the shadows, the typography… But… Then… ugggghhhh I don’t know. I really don’t know.

Ok…

Ummm…

I’m going to go with the U.S covers. As those are the editions that I bought first and THEN I bought the U.K covers afterwards…

This is so easy. Definitely the U.K version. I don’t even know why the title is different?! Both titles encompass the theme of the story really well but Night Owls is way more easy to say and rolls off of the tongue better. And also the cover of the U.K one is so much prettier!

This series has been through so many cover changes that I had no idea which ones to pick to compare… So I decided to use the original U.K cover and (what seems to be) the most popular U.S cover. (FYI, I have no idea, if it actually IS the most popular one, but it’s the one that I see the most in YouTube videos). But I do like the old U.K covers for this series as it attracts the attention of both young and older audiences.

100% the U.S cover. The U.K cover just looks so cheesy, and the U.S cover looks way more sophisticated and businesslike – which is exactly what Clinton is.

I have no idea when it comes to these two. I love the shininess of the U.K cover, the colour combination and the design. But the model on the cover of the U.S cover is the epitome of Amani and I love how fierce she looks. So I really really don’t know… They’re both so amazing. But I think I’m going to go with the U.K one because I love the shininess of it and the castle and the horse silhouette in the background.

So the scores after part two are:

U.K – 10

U.S – 10

So there we have it! That’s part two of my U.K vs U.S book covers blog posts. There IS going to be a part three and four, and I’m hoping it will be a post that will continue to carry on as new books come out. There’s going to be different posts because I just didn’t want to put them all in one VEEERRRYYYY LOOOOOONNNNGGG post because that would be a nightmare to write (and read).

Definitely keep your eyes peeled for the next parts of the series!

Which covers did you prefer? Let me know in the comments below which ones were your favourite.

  1. Strange the Dreamer, totally agree U.K version so much better!
Throne of Class, I love the U.K version!
Harry Potter, U.S version I like how the sorcerer’s stone is in the stone.
Truthwitch, totally agree with you on the cover and the typography!
Jay Kirstoff, definitely the U.S. versions, they are so beautiful and the third book better match or I’ll be very sad!
Night Owls, confused me. It looks like two different books.
Northern Lights, I had no idea there were two names for this book again, though I prefer the U.K. name and cover!
What Happened, definitely the U.S. cover!
Rebel of the sands, U.K. version. the U.S. seems like a typical cover at this point.

    Love this type of post!

    1. Haha I had to have a bit of a chuckle at night owls. I agree, it definitely looks like 2 different books
