A Reflection on Previous Reading Goals

A Reflection on Previous Reading Goals

I have just finished writing my Mid Year Freak Out Tag for 2018, and I realised that there were books on some of the lists that were also answers to questions from last years questions. Which got me thinking… Have I actually succeeded in completing some of my goals? Or have I ignored them completely?

Let’s take a look…

In my Mid Year Freak Out Tag for 2017, I stated that I really wanted to read Want by Cindy Pon, because I thought that it sounded absolutely amazing. I did actually buy the audiobook and I DID start listening to it… for like… 5 minutes. And then I put it down. And what makes this even worse is that there is the sequel coming out soon called Ruse!

Conclusion: NOT YET READ

The last question of my 2017 Mid Year Freak Out Tag was to list 6 books that I wanted to read by the end of 2017. These were Ship of Theseus by J.J Abrams and Doug Dorst, Nevernight by Jay Kristoff, Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix, Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, Avenged by Amy Tintera, and George by Alex Gino.

Conclusion:

Ship of Theseus: NOT YET READ

Nevernight: NOT YET READ

Horrorstör: READ

Homegoing: NOT YET READ

Avenged: NOT YET READ

George: NOT YET READ

We’re going back a bit now, but I’m now looking at my End of 2016 Book Tag, and yes, I said in that post that I really wanted to read Nevernight, but I’ve just said that I haven’t gotten round to reading that yet, so I don’t need to include it again.

One of the questions in the End of 2016 Book Tag asks which book I want to read by the end of 2016, and I said The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken.

Conclusion: NOT YET READ

Another question in the End of 2016 Book Tag was if I have any bookish goals for 2017, and I stated that I wanted to regularly upload to my YouTube channel. And I have! It’s been a year of YouTube goodness and I’ve loved doing it. Lately however, I have lost some motivation to film and edit, but I’m planning on getting back into it really soon!

Conclusion: COMPLETED

Now… Moving onto my End of 2017 Book Tag… One of the questions were about a new release that you haven’t read yet, and I said Whichwood by Tehereh Mafi. I haven’t read it… I haven’t even read Futhermore which is shocking.

Conclusion: NOT YET READ

There was another question in my End of 2017 Book Tag, that asked me which book I wanted to read by the end of 2017, and I said Dreamfall by Amy Plum.

Conclusion: READ

Read my review of Dreamfall

My bookish goal for 2018 was to increase my Goodreads goal from 100 to 150. I did that, I did increase it, but at the moment, I’m 23 books behind schedule which isn’t good at all. So I’m hoping that I can catch up on the challenge.

VERDICT:

WOW I AM ABSOLUTELY AWFUL AT STICKING TO GOALS AND I SHOULD NEVER MAKE ANY EVER AGAIN.

No, but seriously… I’ve read 2 of the books that I wanted to read and that’s just stupid. BUT, I have read a lot of other amazing books, but as you can see in my Mid Year Freak Out Tag for 2018, I have set myself some more goals for the end of 2018, so I’m hoping that I can actually read the books that I’ve set goals for!

Wish me luck!
