Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag

Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag

Hi guys and welcome to my Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag. I can’t believe that we’re just over halfway of 2017. How crazy is that? The Bibliophile Girl has been going for a year as my one year anniversary was on the 9th June. See my very first post here. I just can’t believe how fast it’s gone. I remember starting this website last year not knowing how it was going to go or whether I would even have an audience. Now, one year later, I am writing to thousands of you and loving every second of it. I am getting to read so many good books, I am lucky enough to receive some off publishers and I just can’t believe it.

Anyway, let’s get into the tag, shall we?

What is the best book that you’ve read so far in 2017?

This has to be How to Stop Time by Matt Haig or Paper Butterflies by Lisa Heathfield. They are both such beautiful books that explore loss and life and both books were just so emotional for me! I can’t choose between them…

What has been your favourite sequel of the first half of the year?

IMG_4233

OOOOOOOO, this has to be Saga Vol.2! I didn’t think anything could be better than the first volume, but this just proved me completely wrong and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I actually haven’t read that many sequel this year, but out of the ones that I have read, this is definitely my favourite.

Is there a new release that you haven’t read yet but you’re really excited to?

Definitely, Want by Cindy Pon. The cover is absolutely gorgeous and the premise of the book sounds amazing! I feel like I need this in my life. I don’t even own it which is sad…

What is your most anticipated release for the second half of the year?

There are sooooo many good releases coming out in the second half of the year, and I couldn’t just pick one to use to answer this question, so I tried my best (and it took absolutely ages) and I narrowed it down to three. So I chose Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (illustrated edition) by J.K Rowling and illustrations by Jim Kay, The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James and Whichwood by Tahereh Mafi.

What is your biggest surprise so far?

I normally don’t like books about carnivals or circuses such as Carnivalesque by Neil Jordans and Flight of a Starling by Lisa Heathfield, but Caraval was such an amazing surprise. I read it in a matter of a few hours and just loved every second of it.

What is your favourite new to you or debut author?

IMG_3321

This has got to be Renée Ahdieh. I received an ARC of Flame in the Mist and I read it within a couple of days. It was absolutely amazing. I then received a finished copy in my box so I have 2 copies of this beautiful book. A couple of weeks later, I went out to my local bookstore and I bought The Wrath and the Dawn and The Rose and the Dagger by Ahdieh and I can’t wait to delve into them.

What is your favourite fictional crush from this year?

img_2867

There actually hasn’t been a character that I’ve swooned over so far, so I decided to change the question to what is my favourite OTP from this year and it has to be Dimple and Rishi from When Dimple Met Rishi. They’re just so cute together!

What is your new favourite character?

img_2866

It has to be Min from Nemesis. She’s such a badass female character who stands up for what she believes in and won’t sit around waiting for answers to her questions to just fall into her lap. She actually goes out, puts herself in danger (and doesn’t care) so she can find out what’s going on with her. I think she’s absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to read about her even more in the next book!

A book that made you cry?

This book ruined my soul and made me ugly cry for about 2 hours. Enough said.

A book that made you happy?

A cute, banterous couple, jokes flying around everywhere and two charcters who just love life. What more could you ask for?

Your favourite book to movie/tv show that you’ve seen so far?

The_Dark_Tower_teaser_poster.jpg

I haven’t really seen any… I didn’t like 13 Reasons Why, but I think for next half of the year, I’m really looking forward to seeing The Dark Tower. Well, does Wonder Woman count? Because it is adapted from a comic book… If it counts, then Wonder Woman may be my favourite film of all time, but if it doesn’t, then I’m looking forward to watching The Dark Tower.

What is your favourite post that you have written so far this year?

I like that I’ve branched out and done ‘Releases that I’m Excited For’ posts, and unboxings, as I was just doing reviews and hauls at first. But I’ve also written reviews for book to movie/tv adaptations such as A Series of Unfortunate Events, and a few mental health posts

What is the most beautiful book that you have bought?

I can’t choose between these two… The Thousandth Floor has such a simple cover with just the building in the middle, but it’s just so gorgeous and then Strange the Dreamer has an amazing cover, and my copy has blue sprayed pages which just tops it all off.  It was so hard to choose just two though… I own so many beautiful books… I might just have to do a Top 10 Book Covers post… Hmmmm…

What are 6 books that you want to read by the end of the year?

The original question was to pick only one book that I want to read in the second half of the year, but I couldn’t do it… I just couldn’t pick. So I decided upon The Ship of Theseus by J.J Abrams and Doug Dorst, Nevernight by Jay Kristoff, Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix, Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, Avenged by Amy Tintera and George by Alex Gino.
