Q&A with Brendan Reichs

Q&A with Brendan Reichs

For those of you who are regular visitors of my blog and regular viewers of my BookTube channel, you will know that I am OBSESSED with Brendan Reichs’ books: Nemesis, and the sequel, Genesis. For the release of Genesis, Pan Macmillan contacted me and asked if I would like to be sent a copy of Genesis (of course, I agreed). Once I had read, reviewed, and sent the review to Pan Macmillan, my correspondent at the publishing house asked if I would like to ask Reichs some questions. I nearly died a fangirl death.

So here we go! These are the questions I was dying to ask him, and these are his answers. Enjoy!

Oh, I do love a good book about books. They make me feel all warm inside and I can relate to absolutely everything that happens… Perks of being a book lover! When I saw this book on Netgalley, I instantly requested it. It’s just the type of contemporary that I love reading and I had such high expectations!

I had been waiting to read this book for over a year. I love fantasy, and I love books that feel like re-tellings, but aren’t? If you get what I mean… The Hazel Wood sounded so intriguing with its magical world, and from the synopsis, it kind of gave me a similar feeling to The Raven Boys – a whimsical world just a stretch away from ours. So because of that, and because of my love for The Raven Boys, I was so so so excited…

Everless is one of the books that I actually listened to on Audible. I’m always a bit apprehensive when I purchase an audiobook because it’s a lot money to waste on something that might have a narrator that you can’t connect with, and won’t be able to listen to for 10 hours. LUCKILY, I really liked the narrator for Everless. She made the story come to life and voiced the characters so well!

I’ve been looking out for more YA contemporary books about fat girls… Or even girls who aren’t comfortable with the size of their body or how they look. Because, I’m one of those girls, so I’m always on the lookout for good representation of this in YA. I’d heard a lot about Big Bones throughout the blogosphere and I was interested to see whether it was the type of book that I was looking for, so I decided to request a copy and see what I thought.

I have been waiting for this book for such a long time. I read the first book – Nemesis – about a year and a half ago, thinking that it was quite an old book and that it had been out for a long time. BUT NO! When I realised that it was a new release and that I had to wait over a year for the second book, I was so sad! But now, Genesis is here and boy, am I excited to share my thoughts with you.

Hey, look! It’s another graphic novel review! And it’s another graphic novel that I requested from Netgalley! Except this graphic novel is so much different than to what I normally read in graphic novel format, and it definitely has a different artwork style than to what I’m used to. But hey. I like branching out when it comes to graphic novels, so I wanted to give Spectacle a go!

Yes, I went a bit click-happy when it came to requesting Graphic Novels off of Netgalley. It’s because they’re quick reads, and I was SO behind on my Goodreads challenge, and plus, you can’t really beat a good graphic novel, can you? So this time, I opened up the Adobe Digital app on my phone, and got ready to read my latest download: a space drama that was kind of like when Obama took over from Bush…

I’ve seen so many good graphic novels get put on Netgalley, but I hardly ever request them. The first ones I ever requested were The Damned Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 by Cullen Bunn. It was a weird experience, having to squint to read the text, and having to zoom in on the images so you could look at the illustrations in all of their glorious detail, but it was still enjoyable. So now, whenever I see a graphic novel that looks interesting, I request it.
