‘Waiting on Wednesday’ is a meme created by Breaking the Spine where each week we discuss upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. I am looking forward to SO MANY BOOKS, so this weekly meme is a great way for me to share what books I need to get my hands on!

Who are the Sawkill Girls?

Marion: the new girl. Awkward and plain, steady and dependable. Weighed down by tragedy and hungry for love she’s sure she’ll never find.

Zoey: the pariah. Luckless and lonely, hurting but hiding it. Aching with grief and dreaming of vanished girls. Maybe she’s broken—or maybe everyone else is.

Val: the queen bee. Gorgeous and privileged, ruthless and regal. Words like silk and eyes like knives, a heart made of secrets and a mouth full of lies.

Their stories come together on the island of Sawkill Rock, where gleaming horses graze in rolling pastures and cold waves crash against black cliffs. Where kids whisper the legend of an insidious monster at parties and around campfires.

Where girls have been disappearing for decades, stolen away by a ravenous evil no one has dared to fight… until now.

Who doesn’t need this book in their life?!

When I went to YALC in July, there were ARCs of this book up for grabs… Unfortunately, Harper Collins did the giveaway earlier than they said they would and I missed out on the chance to win a copy… Oh well! At least I didn’t have THAT long to wait until it’s released. I did actually pre-order this book, but when I realised that there were a lot more books that I had to get around to before this one, I cancelled it, and I just figured that I would buy it when I was desperate to read it… Which is right now… But, at the end of the day, I need to look after my bank account.

I’m yet to read Furyborn by Legrand, but I’ve heard that it’s amazing and I’m intrigued to see how she writes a novel of a completely different genre. Yes, it’s still YA, but it’s a contemporary/thriller that gives me major S.T.A.G.S vibes. I love reading YA thrillers because I find them so much more atmospheric than adult thrillers. I don’t know what it is, I just prefer them!

Until next time…
