Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Why am I reading this book 4 AND A HALF YEARS after it was released?😫 I am SO BEHIND on reading Leigh Bardugo’s hyped books that are set in the Grishaverse. It’s only been recently where I’ve read the Shadow and Bone trilogy! Please don’t come at me! I guess I’ve just been scared because they ARE so hyped, so I didn’t want to be disappointed.

So, here we go! After a very long time, I have finally read Six of Crows!

Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

For those who know me, or who are regular readers of my blog, you will know that Kerri Maniscalco became one of my favourite authors of all time after I read the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. There was something about her writing that kept pulling me in, and I loved every single character that she wrote. Even though I was sad about the story of Audrey Rose Wadsworth coming to a close, hearing that Maniscalco had a new series coming out that had to do with witches and Princes of Hell was just *chefs kiss*.

Blood Heir by Amélie Wen Zhao

Blood Heir by Amélie Wen Zhao

Whenever I’m browsing NetGalley, it’s always the cover that intrigues me enough to read the synopsis. The cover of Blood Heir is absolutely gorgeous, and I was in awe of the design. So then I read the synopsis of the novel, and that sold me instantly. I clicked on ‘request’, and the next day, I had been approved and started reading straight away.

We are Blood and Thunder by Kesia Lupo

We are Blood and Thunder by Kesia Lupo

I’m actually writing this review about a month after I had finished reading it, so if the review seems a bit.. vague(?), this is why! But let me just tell you how excited I was to read a new young adult book from a debut author, but also… this is a fantasy book that was a standalone!! It is very very rare that we see this, so I was all here for it.

Witchcraft and Monsters by Kala Godin

Witchcraft and Monsters by Kala Godin

For regular readers of my blog, you will know that when it comes to contemporary poetry, I’m not the biggest of fans. However, a poetry collection that is called Witchcraft and Monsters? I am here for it. When I saw the cover, I requested it immediately. I didn’t even know that it was poetry, I didn’t even read the blurb… I just… well… requested it. And I’m so glad that I did.

Yes, I know that I’m like a billion years too late in reading this. My TBR IS MILES AND MILES long, and if I’m being completely honest, I only read this when I did because Samantha Shannon was at YALC so I probably wouldn’t have read it for another billion years. BUT IT’S OK! I’ve read it now! And I can honestly say that I’m really sad that I didn’t read beforehand, because I really really enjoyed it.

Ahhhhh, here it is: the final book in the Rebel of the Sands trilogy. I feel like I have been waiting for this all my life. I read Rebel of the Sands when it first came out, and following Amani on her journey across the desert, into the Sultan’s palace in Traitor to the Throne, and back across the deserthas been a delightful (and not so delightful) journey.

*Because this book is the third and final in the series, there ARE going to be spoilers, because I don’t think I can write this review without them…*

I was browsing my local library one day when I came across The Lantern’s Ember. I had heard a lot of hype surrounding it, and I was actually surprised that my library had a brand new release! I also had been sent a copy by the publisher, so at least I could read the physical and the e-book version. The cover was gorgeous and the premise sounded right up my alley, so I decided to take it home and dive right into it.
