Fairy Loot Unboxing | February 2020

Fairy Loot Unboxing | February 2020

Welcome back to ANOTHER Fairy Loot unboxing! So, for this month the theme was ‘Rulebreakers’ and when the theme was announced last month, I knew exactly what the book was, and to make things even better, I had an ARC of the book and I had already read most of it, and thought it was amazing.

Side note: excuse the chipped nail polish. I haven’t been bothered to take it off!

Let’s get on with the unboxing…

Another Fairy Loot box means another month of gorgeous artwork which is designed by Taratjah! The artwork for this month is absolutely amazing and sums up the book and theme perfectly. On the back of this card is all of the information about each item, but I never look at this as it contains spoilers as to what is in the box, and I WANT TO BE SURPRISED!

The first item that I saw was this GORGEOUS mug inspired by Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin and was designed by @merwildandco and there’s a little sketch inside the book that was designed by Taratjah.

I’m not really one for wearing thin material scarves like these. I prefer the big, fluffy ones that can keep me from being bitten by the cold in the U.K. However, maybe when the warmer side of spring and summer come around, I’ll wear them then. This scarf was designed Taratjah and and is inspired by Sorcery of Thorns.

Stickers are another thing that I can’t get enough of. I either stick them in my reading journal, or I’ll stick them on my bedroom walls. This was says “too few centuries, too many books” and is inspired by Nevernight and were designed by @noverantale.

Aaaaannnnddddd…. The book of the month is The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller. I’ve already read half of this book because I had an eARC, and I am ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT, so I’m happy that I have a finished copy.

This months book included an exclusive cover, artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket that was designed by @vagueenthusiast.art which I think is amazing. It’s also signed by the author, has exclusive embossing on the hardcover.

Inside the Fairy Pouch was also an art print with a quote from the book that says “after all, love is an excellent motivation to kill,” and there were also more character prints.

On the reverse of the letter from the author is some lovely artwork by @myvalenstyles

Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:

1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.

No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.

But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?

As always, Fairy Loot included the Fairyscoop newsletter which includes an interview with the author and also the information for next months box (which sounds A-MAZ-ING!), and then they also include a bookmark that has the artwork of the month printed on the front and then ‘Fairy Loot / February 2020 / ‘Rulebreakers’ printed on the back!

Thank you to Fairy Loot for another month of bookish goodness. I can’t wait for next months box which is themed ‘Break the Curse’. After reading the description of the book, I’m not quite sure what the book is straight away, but I’ll do some digging on Goodreads soon.

Fairy Loot have stated that the March book will have shimmery sprayed pages, artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket, and will also be signed by the author.
