Top Ten Tuesday: 5 Things I’m Thankful For | 20/11/18

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish list prompt originally hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. The theme for this week is:

November 20th: Thanksgiving/Thankful Freebie

Because I live in the U.K, I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, so I thought that I would do something a little bit different and just list 5 things that I’m thankful to have in my life. I don’t remind myself often enough of all of the good things that I have because of my mental health… I’m constantly thinking about the negative.

1) My family and my dog: I honestly don’t know where I’d be without my parents and my younger sister. I may complain about them a lot, I may fight with my sister AN ABSOLUTE TON, but I love them. Ever since I told them about my depression when I was 17, they have been the most supportive people that I have in my life and it’s helped me so much to have that amazing support system around me and for that I am very lucky and very thankful. Also, my dog, Luna. She is the first dog that I have ever had and I never thought that dogs could be such brilliant support systems but honesty? They are the best forms of therapy and I love her so much.

2. My best friend: Layla has known about my mental health every since I first    developed it at 14, and she’s been there through the ups and the worst of the downs. She’s stayed right by my side through horrific breakups, and continued to stay there when I’ve lost people. I honestly couldn’t ask for a better friend that she, and I really hope that she doesn’t read this because she will take this piss out of me and never let me live it down.

3) Books (media in general): what kind of post would this be if I didn’t say that I was thankful for the things that I ACTUALLY BLOG ABOUT. Books have been a life saver on many occasions, and I will always be thankful to authors who have created such brilliant worlds for me to get lost in. But I’m also thankful for all of the TV shows, films and video games for providing me with worlds to escape to.

4) Followers/Readers: This blog would not have even been able to carry on if it wasn’t for the people who read my ramblings every day. The Bibliophile Girl has been going on for 2 years now and I have such a dedicated readership and following that have made me feel incredibly lucky to be doing what I’m doing. I love you all.

5) Opportunities: I think that this is a very important one for me. I am so thankful to be able to have the opportunities that I do such as a job so that I can afford to buy books and go nice places, university so that I gain more knowledge in the fields that I’m interested in, holidays so that I can see and experience different cultures… I am so incredibly lucky and thankful to be able to do these things.
