Fairy Loot December Unboxing | 2018

Fairy Loot December Unboxing | 2018

Welcome back to ANOTHER Fairy Loot unboxing! If you don’t already know, I now also have a YouTube channel where I have also filmed an unboxing as well as writing this blog post. So, for this month the theme was ‘Dragons’ and when the theme was announced last month, and I had no idea what this book was going to be… No clue AT ALL, so that added an element of excitement to this month!

Let’s get on with the unboxing…

Another Fairy Loot box means another month of gorgeous artwork which is designed by Taratjah! The artwork for this month is absolutely amazing and sums up the book and theme perfectly. On the back of this card is all of the information about each item, but I never look at this as it contains spoilers as to what is in the box, and I WANT TO BE SURPRISED!

The first item that I saw when I opened this months box was this GORGEOUS dragon necklace which was bought to us exclusively by Fairy Loot. I don’t normally wear other necklaces than I one I wear everyday, but I do really like this one, so this is definitely one that I’m going to wearing! Another brilliant thing about this necklace is that in the dark, the wings glow!

The second item that I saw in the box was this beautifully designed book sleeve. I love book sleeve (your an never have too many!) I do like the design but I think when the print got blown up to the size of the sleeve, it lost some of it’s quality so it looks a little bit grainy, but no worries! It’s still beautiful AND it’s inspired by Harry Potter which is a bonus.

So first we had the cork bunting flags that came in Fairy Loot a while back, and now we have a pin flag! I’m always looking for new places to showcase my different pins and patches, so this is another perfect way to do that! This pin flag was also bought to us exclusively by Fairy Loot.

I loved the reading journal that came with last years July box, so when I heard that Fairy Loot were including another one, I couldn’t wait! And I love that the whole journal is inspired by dragons, it’s so cool. I do wish that they had a full year one though… I’ve recently stopped doing my bullet journal, because it took up too much time with drawing it out and everything, so this is perfect for me to keep track of my reading, so yeah… I do wish that it was a full year, but they are going to include July – December in the July box, I think??

The reading journal was designed by FictionTea and Blanca Montiel (formerly Miss Phi)

I can’t find these tarot cards on the spoiler card so I can’t tell you who they’re designed by or what characters they are inspired by. What I can tell you is that whoever designed these are SO talented.

Another item that we got in this months box is this double sided art print. One side (on the left) features Abraxos from Throne of Glass, and Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. These gorgeous art prints were designed by Diana Worak.

I nearly screamed in delight when I saw this in the box. I knew that Fairy Loot were including an ARC in the box, but I had no idea which one it would be. This has been near the top of my 2019 anticipated releases lists ever since I found out about it, and to get an physical ARC of it 6 MONTHS before it’s release date is just the best thing ever. THANK YOU SO MUCH FAIRY LOOT!

In the tropical kingdom of Rhodaire, magical, elemental Crows are part of every aspect of life…until the Illucian empire invades, destroying everything.

That terrible night has thrown Princess Anthia into a deep depression. Her sister Caliza is busy running the kingdom after their mother’s death, but all Thia can do is think of all she has lost.

But when Caliza is forced to agree to a marriage between Thia and the crown prince of Illucia, Thia is finally spurred into action. And after stumbling upon a hidden Crow egg in the rubble of a rookery, she and her sister devise a dangerous plan to hatch the egg in secret and get back what was taken from them.

Annnnndddd, the book of the month is Fire & Heist by Sarah Beth Durst. I don’t know whether I’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of months, but I don’t think I’ve actually heard of this book (?) But, I read the synopsis and it sounds so good!

This month’s book was physically signed by the author and I LOVE the colouring of the naked book, with it’s yellow and black.

Along with the book, there was also a letter from the author with some character art work on the back of Sky that was designed by Taratjah.

In Sky Hawkins’s family, leading your first heist is a major milestone–even more so than learning to talk, walk, or do long division. It’s a chance to gain power and acceptance within your family, and within society. But stealing your first treasure can be complicated, especially when you’re a wyvern–a human capable of turning into a dragon.

Embarking on a life of crime is never easy, and Sky discovers secrets about her mother, who recently went missing, the real reason her boyfriend broke up with her, and a valuable jewel that could restore her family’s wealth and rank in their community.

With a handpicked crew by her side, Sky knows she has everything she needs to complete her first heist, and get her boyfriend and mother back in the process. But then she uncovers a dark truth about were-dragon society–a truth more valuable and dangerous than gold or jewels could ever be.

As always, Fairy Loot included the Fairyscoop newsletter which includes an interview with the author and also the information for next months box (which sounds A-MAZ-ING!), and then they also include a bookmark that has the artwork of the month printed on the front and then ‘Fairy Loot / December 2018 / ‘Dragons’ printed on the back!

Thank you to Fairy Loot for another month of bookish goodness. I can’t wait for next months box which is themed Unbreakable Bonds! I’ve looked through the January releases list on Goodreads to try and figure out which book it’s going to be, but I genuinely can’t find anything that resembles the description that Fairy Loot gave us… Hmmmmm….

Fairy Loot have said that next months book will have spray painted edges and will be physically signed by the author.

They have also said that there will be a cushion cover included and none of the other items are paper based which is also really interesting.

Fairy Loot have also released the theme for February which is Beast & Beauty, which is obviously inspired by Beauty and the Beast.

They have said that the Fairy Loot edition of the book will be an exclusive hardcover (the UK standard edition is paperback), and it will also have a silk ribbon bookmark. Fairy Loot have also hinted that it might have a holographic cover. Based on all this information, I know EXACTLY what this book is going to be.

Fairy Loot have also released information about one of the items, and it is a wall tapestry! Which is something that I’ve always wanted.
