Fairy Loot October Unboxing 2017

Fairy Loot October Unboxing 2017

Welcome back to ANOTHER Fairy Loot unboxing! If you don’t already know, I now also have a YouTube channel where I have also filmed an unboxing as well as writing this blog post. So, for this month, the theme was ‘Villainous’ and when the theme was announced last month, I knew exactly what the book was going to be as I have read an arc for the book and absolutely loved it! I was also super excited to see what amazing goodies I would receive in this months box!

Let’s get on with the unboxing…

Another Fairy Loot box means another month of gorgeous artwork! The artwork for this month is absolutely amazing and sums up the book and theme perfectly. On the back of this card is all of the information about each item, but I never look at this as it contains spoilers as to what is in the box, and I WANT TO BE SURPRISED!

I am absolutely obsessed with coasters. I don’t know why I have so many considering I only drink in a couple of different rooms but I have amassed an enormous collection and this amazing Moriarty-inspired coaster was designed by Evie Seo who is an artist who I am in love with. Anything that I buy from Redbubble or Society6, I always buy from her shop because her designs are breathtaking and she always does designs on the much-loved books of the time.

This cute little pocket mirror was designed by Little Inking Design and is perfect if you’re on the go. And plus, it’s book-inspired, which makes it 1000% times better AND it features the quote “everyone has darkness inside them however hidden” and this is taken from Marie Lu’s fantastic novel The Young Elites.

How lucky are we?! We get not one, BUT TWO EVIE SEO DESIGNS!! *Internally screaming and crying with happiness* This is an amazing art print that says “if I cannot move heaven, I will raise hell” and it’s a quote that is originally from Virgil, The Aeneid but readers will probably recognise it as something that Sebastian says in The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. This is going to look brilliant on my bedroom wall.

We get another art print in this months Fairy Loot box, and this art print also doubles up as an advert for Laini Taylor’s new release of Night of Cake and Puppets which is a spin-off novel of the Daughters of Smoke and Bone trilogy. I haven’t read Night of Cake and Puppets yet, but I’m really excited to!

I want to cry so much with happiness. In this months Fairy Loot box, we get TWO HARDCOVER BOOKS! The first one was The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo which is the HIGHLY ANTICIPATED release of fairy tales from the Grishaverse. It’s also beautifully illustrated AND the copy that was in Fairy Loot’s box has an exclusive cover, so you won’t be able to find this anywhere else. The original The Language of Thorns cover has orange shiny foil, whereas the Fairy Loot edition has red shiny foil (which I 100% prefer!) Along with the book, there were also postcards with the artwork from the book which was a brilliant addition to the box because now I can stick the gorgeous artwork from The Language of Thorns on my bedroom wall!

“Travel to a world of dark bargains struck by moonlight, of haunted towns and hungry woods, of talking beasts and gingerbread golems, where a young mermaid’s voice can summon deadly storms and where a river might do a lovestruck boy’s bidding but only for a terrible price.

This collection of six stories includes three brand-new tales, all of them lavishly illustrated with art that changes with each turn of the page, culminating in six stunning full-spread illustrations as rich in detail as the stories themselves.”

And the book of the month is Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao! I have already read an arc of this book and let me tell you… It is absolutely brilliant. It’s a re-telling of the evil queen story and it’s set in East Asia which is amazing. Along with the book, there was also a signed bookplate and a letter from the author which are things that I always look forward to getting. If you don’t know what to do with the signed bookplate, it is actually a sticker, so you can peel it off and then stick it inside of your book!

“Eighteen-year-old Xifeng is beautiful. The stars say she is destined for greatness, that she is meant to be Empress of Feng Lu. But only if she embraces the darkness within her. Growing up as a peasant in a forgotten village on the edge of the map, Xifeng longs to fulfill the destiny promised to her by her cruel aunt, the witch Guma, who has read the cards and seen glimmers of Xifeng’s majestic future. But is the price of the throne too high?

Because in order to achieve greatness, she must spurn the young man who loves her and exploit the callous magic that runs through her veins–sorcery fueled by eating the hearts of the recently killed. For the god who has sent her on this journey will not be satisfied until his power is absolute.”

As always, Fairy Loot included the Fairyscoop newsletter which includes an interview with the author of Forest of a Thousand Lanterns and also the information for next months box (which sounds A-MAZ-ING!), and then they also include a bookmark that has the artwork of the month printed on the front and then ‘Fairy Loot / October 2017 / ‘Villainous’ printed on the back!
