Saga Vol. 3 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

Saga Vol. 3 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

This series just keeps getting better and better! With every volume, we are thrown deeper into the lives of Marko and Alana and are given more blood and gore, more background on all of the characters and more gorgeous artwork.

Searching for their literary hero, new parents Marko and Alana travel to a cosmic lighthouse on the planet Quietus, while the couple’s multiple pursuers finally close in on their targets.

Collecting: Saga issues 13-18.

Vaughan continues to impress with his imaginative storylines and huge character arcs and Staples’ eye for detail brings the world of the characters to life as you’re reading. The only thing that stops this series from being utter perfection is the character of Prince Robot IV. I really don’t get why he’s in the story at all or what his motives are for capturing Marko and Alana. If I understood his part in the whole thing then this would be 10000/5. Yes, that makes no sense but it would just surpass the ratings.

“All good children’s stories are the same: young creature breaks rules, has incredible adventure, then returns home with the knowledge that aforementioned rules are there for a reason.

Of course, the actual message to the careful reader is: break rules as often as you can, because who the hell doesn’t want to have an adventure?”

― Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples, Saga, Vol. 3

I liked how we finally got to see what happened whilst Marko and Alana were at the author’s house and I also loved how we got to see more of Marko’s Mother’s personality because we didn’t really see much of it in the last issue and when we did, it was the harsh side of her whereas, in this issue, we saw a softer side to her and one where she just wanted to look after her family.

It’s gotten to that point where I am literally obsessed with this series but I don’t want to read it quickly because there is ages to wait until volume 8 comes out and I really don’t want to finish volume 7 and then wait til January for volume 8.

Overall, this was a very good volume and I’m so so excited to get started reading volume 4! I also have other graphic novels by Brian K. Vaughan so I’m going to read those ones as well!.
