End Of 2016 Freak Out Book Tag

End Of 2016 Freak Out Book Tag

How weird is it that it’s the end of 2016 already? The last fourth months have seemed like 4 seconds just the thought of it nearly being 2017 is making me go insane. And yes, the title photo of this post is of me and Jennifer Niven. I mean… I MET JENNIFER NIVEN! AND I CRIED IN FRONT OF HER *facepalm*.

But with the end of the year comes the End of Year Freak Out Tag! Let’s get into it!

Best Sequel You’ve Read in 2016

Why are these questions so hard?! Why can’t I just pick a book??!! Ermmm… let me just consult my Goodreads list… probably Hollow City by Ransom Riggs?

Best Duology/Trilogy/Quartet/Series You’ve Read in 2016

I feel like I haven’t read that many series type books this year and that most of them have been standalones… I’m going to have to go with The Raven Cycle. Every single one of these books were just so good!

New Release You Haven’t Read, But Want To

Nevernight. I know… I’m crazy for not reading this yet but I’ve got so many books to read that I just haven’t gotten around to this yet. Soon guys, I PROMISE!

Most Anticipated Release for 2017

There’s so many… Ok…. So… There’s Carve the Mark, Caraval, and Lord of Shadows. Yes, I picked three because there’s so many awesome releases in 2017 that I couldn’t pick JUST ONE could I?

Biggest Disappointment

Enough said.

Biggest Surprise

It’s got to be Reboot by Amy Tintera. I thought ‘oh look, another dystopian, another book like The Hunger Games.’ But jeez, how wrong was I? This book was bloody amazing.

Favourite New Author (Or New to You)

Probably Jennifer Niven… Now I only gave All The Bright Places 3/5 stars but Holding up the Universe was just the best thing…

Newest Fictional Crush
Gansey from The Raven Boys. He’s just so adorable…

Newest Favourite Character

How can I pick a favourite character? That’s like picking a favourite child so you can’t make me do this!!! But… it would have to be Wren from Fangirl.

Book That Made You Cry/Upset

Holding up the Universe and The Sun is Also a Star. I was in hysterical tears at both of them

Book That Made You Laugh/Happy

Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children series. They were so good! Even though they had a dark, underlying theme to them, the characters and the world itself made me happy!

Favourite Book To Film/TV Adaptation

Ok well I wasn’t really too impressed with Shadowhunters… I haven’t seen all of the Hunger Games films yet *please don’t hurt me*… Probably season 2 of Outlander

Favourite Post You Have Done This Year

Probably my Mental Health Journey post. Even though it has nothing to do with books, it took so much courage and time for me to write it. It was an emotional journey but I thought it was about time that all of my online friends – who suffer from similar things I do – knew that they weren’t alone

Most Beautiful Book You Have Bought This Year

This is easy! The Game of Thrones Illustrated Edition. I preordered it off Amazon and when it arrived, I think I nearly cried. The drawings are absolutely amazing and the paper feels so smooth *no judging please*. I will treasure this book forever and I just hope that they make the other Game of Thrones books into illustrated editions.

What Book Do You Really Need To Read By The End Of 2016?

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. I’ve been meaning to read it for absolutely ages and it’s just been sitting on my bookshelf staring at me. But I kept getting sidetracked with other books so… definitely The Darkest Minds.

Any Bookish Goals for 2017?

I want to start regularly uploading to my BookTube channel. I know I’ve got a few videos up there already but I want to try and make it a more regular thing. It’s going to be hard work to do BookTube on top of university and my blog, but I reckon I could handle it.

So there we go guys! My End of Year freak out! Well, I hope that 2017 is better than 2016 because this year was just the worst… Not for books, the books released in 2016 were really good… But 2016 in general, was just horrible. SO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, LET 2017 BE BETTER! Well guys, I hope you had an amazing Christmas and I hope you have a brilliant New Year!

I love you all so much! Thank you for reading my ranty blog posts that are just full to the brim of feels, thank you for reading all the rants about the rubbish books that I have read and thank you for reading my blog in general. Without you guys, there wouldn’t be The Bibliophile Girl.

Let’s go into 2017 with positive mindsets and with our bank accounts full so that we can spend all of our money on the brilliant releases coming out in January!

xoxo

  1. I read the Darkest Minds series and I enjoyed it. I think you will too. I plan to get to the new HP book in a month and I’ve seen a lot of disappointed reviews, but I still have the absolute NEED to read it. I also enjoyed the Miss Peregrine’s series – saw the movie too! Great list.

    1. I’ve just heard so much good stuff about The Darkest Minds. I don’t know what it is. I just don’t seem to read the new releases straight after they come out ?
